Stage Two: Building for the Future.
There is much excitement at
Whidbey Island
Center
for the Arts
as evident just by driving past the building!

WICA opened its doors to the community May 1996 as a small performing arts center. The organization has been successfully serving the community beyond expectation ever since, creatively maximizing every nook and corner of the increasingly cramped facility.
In the fall of 2007, WICA’s Board of Directors thoughtfully approved a plan to expand the facility to adequately support the needs of its patrons, volunteers and staff; and to best provide the community with the artistic, civic and educational opportunities that have been repeatedly requested.
This campaign to improve the facility -- known as Stage Two: Building for the Future -- is well underway. The campaign has raised roughly 75% (Aug 2009) of its $2.5M goal through the generosity of numerous WICA supporters throughout the community. Phase I of construction, including Zech Hall (rehearsal hall), the WhidbeyTelecom/
Henny
Family
Technical
Center
, the Puget Sound Energy Green Room, expanded dressing rooms, costume storage and generally improved backstage areas, are slated to be completed in late 2009.
Phase II will commence in 2010 as additional funds are secured and will include the Schell Administrative Offices building, a ticket office, improved lobby space and an outdoor public gathering area.
The entire Stage Two committee and WICA’s Board of Directors invite and encourage you to take a tour of the facility and discover first-hand how you can be a part of WICA’s exciting expansion. Each and every person who attends a performance, participates in WICA’s numerous volunteer opportunities, donates to the Annual Fund, or pledges their support to the Stage Two Campaign plays a key role in the organization’s continued success and helps ensure the vibrancy of Whidbey’s arts community.
Many, many thanks to those who have already pledged their support of the Stage Two Campaign! The final push for the campaign is underway and we look forward to discussing your interest and support.
All our best,
Pam Schell, Stage-Two Campaign Chair
George Henny, Stage-Two Campaign Chair
Carol Ryan, Stage-Two Campaign Chair
